What Is Preventative Dentistry?

Preventative dentistry involves establishing habits that will keep your teeth healthy help you avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and more.  During your regular visit at Arizona Smile Center, your dental hygienist will point out any issues that you may be having with your oral hygiene.  Your hygienist will perform a cleaning, dental exam, an oral cancer exam, and take new 3-D Xray’s.  We will also evaluate the appearance of your teeth and recommend any aesthetic procedures that will enhance your smile, such as cosmetic or orthodontic procedures. Since we began serving patients

Preventative dentistry is the key to achieving and maintaining a beautiful smile.  It starts with great at home care of the teeth and gums, and regular appointments with the dentist. During recall or recare appointments, which should be scheduled approximately six months apart, Dr Bollwinkel will examine your mouth and take note of anything unusual that may be happening. During this time patients can also undergo oral cancer screenings with our CBCT and enjoy a professional cleaning.  This is a great way for our dentist to keep tabs on your smile and ensure that we are taking proper steps to maintain your oral health both at home and at the dental practice.

What You Can Do to Prevent Tooth Decay

Establishing at home oral hygiene habits is essential to keeping your teeth healthy. Brushing and flossing after eating will help to remove plaques and decay. Plaque is difficult to remove and the best at home habits may not be enough to keep it at bay. This is why it is so important to schedule regular dental visits and allow our trained team of Certified Oral hygienist to catch any problems that may be lurking before they become serious.
